William E. Paolisso, Jr.

William Edward Paolisso Jr., 89, of Doylestown, PA, formerly Weirton, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Doylestown Hospital. Born December 6, 1927 in Weirton, he was the son of the late William "Shoemaker" and Angela (Marino) Paolisso. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret "Peggy" Paolisso; brother Paul Paolisso; sisters Lucille Paolisso Vince and Louise Paolisso DiMaria. Bill worked for Weirton Steel in plant protection. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. He was a three-sport athlete at Weir High (football, basketball and baseball) and a member of the OVAC Hall of Fame. He played professional baseball for the St Louis Cardinals organization in the 50's, but was most well known, in the Tri State area, for officiating football and basketball for over 50 years. He also served 2 years in the U. S. Army. He is survived by his son William "Billy" Paolisso III of Montebello, CA; daughter Maria (John) Novey of Bucks County Pennsylvania ; grandchildren Michael and Carolyn Novey; sister Genevieve Paolisso Bellissimo of Cincinnati Ohio and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Reverend Father Larry Dorsch will officiate.
