James “Jim” Paul Zimmerman, 68, of Hamburg, PA, passed away on December 4th, 2020. Jim was recently diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. He wanted to fight, but the cancer had other plans.
He spent his early years in Pitman on the family farm until the sudden death of his father. After his father’s death, his family moved to Locustdale.
In his younger years, he loved to work on his car and drag race down Route 61. He went into the Navy at age 18 and became a helicopter mechanic. Stationed mostly in Norfolk, VA and Lexington Park, MD, he served during the Vietnam War and the Iranian Hostage crisis. He was honorably discharged from the Navy with the rank of First Class Chief Petty Officer.
He worked as a maintenance mechanic at Luden’s for 20 years where he met the love of his life, Marcy.
Jim liked to cook and grill. He loved Mexican food. He was a “straight shooter” and he had a way with words.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Zimmerman and Marion Keller Price; his son, James; his brother, Dale “Rick” Zimmerman and his dog, Lucy.
Surviving are his wife, Marcine “Marcy” Ruth Zimmerman; beagle, Daisy; cat, Ralph; daughters, Tracie Dietrick (Mike) of Ashland, PA and Tina Henderson (Carl) of Lexington Park, MD; son, Chris companion to Erika of Philadelphia, PA; stepdaughter, Shelly Miller of Reading; sister, Linda Gregis of Locustdale; grandchildren, Aaliyah (Josh), Liliana, Christopher, Madison, Mackenzie; great-grandson, Owen; nieces and nephews.
