Peggy Montgomery Obituary

Peggy Montgomery, age 85, of Aquilla, passed away early Saturday morning, December 5, 2020 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Rich Gavin officiating. Burial will follow at the New Lebanon Cemetery near Aquilla. The family will have a come and go visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Limited space, facial masks and social distancing are required. Peggy was born November 11, 1935 in Dawson, the daughter of George and Erma (Woodlee) Etter. She was a 1954 graduate of Aquilla High School and was her class Salutatorian. On July 24, 1954 she married her sweetheart, Tommy Montgomery in Waco. Tommy preceded her in death on November 5, 2014. Peggy attended the Aquilla Church of Christ. She dedicated over 50 years of her life to working at Latham Springs and was truly fond of her time there in the kitchen with her co-workers. She enjoyed working in the garden and yard, playing dominoes and "Bunko" with her friends, working puzzles, sewing, quilting, and helping her husband on the family farm. Keeping her grandsons and great-grandchildren was something she dearly loved to do. She was also a great cook, especially known for her pies, spaghetti and meat loaf. Peggy is also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Anna Payne, Erma Roberts, Virginia Christian and Margueriette Blalack; brothers, John Etter and Charles Etter; and a brother-in-law, Bill Montgomery. Survivors include a daughter, Pam Ender and husband, Melvin; a son, Steve Montgomery and wife, Benita; two grandsons, Luke Montgomery and wife, Diane and Logan Montgomery and wife, Lauren; her precious great-grandchildren, Peyton, Paige and Troy, who she loved dearly, all of Aquilla; a sister, Molly Nichols and her husband, Lloyd; a brother, Livy Etter and his wife, Pauline; sisters-in-law, Mary Burkhart and Judy Montgomery; and many nieces, nephews and countless other friends. Pallbearers are James Miller, Greg Hudson, Drew Bearden, Chris Perez, T.J. Payne and Aaron Prasifka. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Lebanon Cemetery Fund, P. O. Box 242, Aquilla, Texas 76622.
