Minden, NV - Geneva Katherine Iola (Paulson) Larson, 94, formerly of Bartonville, Illinois, passed away on November 25, 2020 in Gardnerville, Nevada. Geneva was born August 9, 1926, to Paul and Marie (Berg) Paulson, on the family farm in Loretta Township, North Dakota, the seventh of eight children. Geneva’s mother died when she was just three years old. The older children helped their father raise the younger ones, and they continued to care for each other throughout their lives. They were an amazing example of a loving, close family. She met her future husband in Grand Forks, North Dakota at the end of World War 2, and they were married January 25, 1947. They eventually moved to Bartonville, Illinois, where they raised their two children, Ginger and Roger. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1955. Geneva enjoyed sports and as an adult played on several bowling leagues, even bowling a perfect 300. She enjoyed stamp collecting and doing jigsaw puzzles in her spare time. She was active in the Peoria VFW Lodge and the American Legion with her husband and siblings. She retired from Bergner’s Department Store and moved to Visalia, California to be near her daughter. Geneva loved her family, was interested in family history, and proud of her Norwegian heritage. Her family will always remember her Johnny Cash impersonations. She is survived by her daughter, Ginger Showley of Minden, Nevada; her son, Roger Larson of Bartonville, Illinois; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons. Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, William Larson, parents, siblings, and son-in-law, Jon Showley. A private burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery.
