Obituary

Mabel Ann Kaminski, 78, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, passed away December 2, at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.  She leaves her husband of 21 years, John Kaminski; her son Charlie (Robin) Sawyers of Clarksburg, WV, her son Scott (Tracy) Sawyers of Charlotte, NC, her son Joseph (Traci) Gentilozzi of Lansing, MI, her son Timothy (Melanie) Gentilozzi of Clarksburg, WV, and her daughter Jacqueline (Tracey) Sheffield of Fort Walton Beach, FL.  Mabel was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Brandon Sawyers, David Sawyers, Ursula Gentilozzi, Maya Gentilozzi, Ethan Sawyers, Jackson Sheffield, Isabella Gentilozzi, Samuel Sheffield, Annalise Gentilozzi, Frank Gentilozzi, and Estelle Gentilozzi.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Virginia Munson of Fort Walton Beach, her son, Michael Sawyers of Clarksburg, WV, and one sister, Virginia Holley of Kansas City, MO.  Mabel had two surviving sisters, Georgia (Guy) Thompson and Betty Rooney, many nieces and nephews, great grandchildren, stepchildren, and close friends.

Mabel had three huge loves in her life: family, Jesus Christ, and cooking.  She was proud of her children and would gladly tell anyone who would listen what great kids she had.  She and her husband shared a love of the Lord, and even during the pandemic, she attended church services by projecting live worship on her TV at home.  Mabel was a skilled cook and baker. Anyone who had the pleasure of dining on her delights knew she had a God given talent and natural love for feeding others.  She always had something cooking on the stove or something baking in the oven and was happiest when spending time in the kitchen with her children.

Although Mabel had many health issues during her lifetime, she was given the gift of extra time with her loved ones through modern medicine and the wonderful heath care providers at UAB hospital and FWBMC. The family would like to say a special thank you to her doctors and nurses who took such good care of her throughout her life and in her final days.  In addition, thank you to her close friends who prayed with her during her lifetime and in her final days and hours.  She was comforted by your words and prayers.  She will see you again in heaven.

Mabel’s last wishes were to be cremated.  The family is planning a celebration of life to be held in the spring.
