Gary C. Schultz Obituary

Gary Carl Schultz, 77, of Sidney, passed away on December 4, 2020, at 5:45 pm at Wilson Health Center. He was born on October 1, 1943, in Riverside, CA., the son of Carl and Virginia (Reeve) Schultz. Both parents have preceded him in death. On February 17, 1968, Gary married Alice Stewart, and they had 52 wonderful years together. She survives him in Sidney.

Gary was retired from Midmark, where he was a mechanical engineer. He literally could fix anything, and not only did he fix the cars and other machines and appliances at his own home, many times neighbors and friends called on him to fix their equipment that was having issues. He was a generous and kind- hearted man, he enjoyed woodworking, coached the Science Olympiad at Lehman Catholic, Was a Boy Scout Leader and a Boy Scout himself in his youth. When he was with Airstream, his family got to enjoy camping on many occasions, staying in the great product he had a hand in building. Gary and Alice are parishioners of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney.

Gary has 3 surviving children: Kenneth Schultz, Catherine (Jason) Courter, and Matthew Schultz. There are 3 grandchildren: Caleb, Madison, and Elias, and one Great-Grandchild: Kian Courter. He was a loving Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, and enjoyed his family very much. Gary also had 5 siblings: Fred (Marjorie) Schultz, Robert (Dee) Schultz, Mark Schultz, Sally (Peter) Brooks, and Ruth Seaquist, and many nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and the family’s concern for others in this pandemic, there will be no visitation or public Mass of Christian Burial. Instead, there will be a private family graveside service, officiated by Rev. Deacon Mr. Phil Myers, at Graceland Cemetery. The family requests that no floral tributes be sent, in lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Alzheimer’s Association in Gary’s memory. Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home is honored to be taking care of the Schultz family. Please express condolences online at www.salm-mcgillandtangemanfh.com.
