Richard Kettlety

Richard Alan Kettlety of Union Hall, Virginia, passed away on December 3, 2020. Richard was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He worked for MeadWestvaco in Covington, Virginia, for 30 plus years as an engineer. After completion of his career with MeadWestvaco, he moved his family to Smith Mountain Lake and applied his many construction and engineering skills to helping his neighbors. He dearly loved water skiing and cruising around the lake on his SeaDoo with their beloved beagles, Luke and Gracie. Richard was lovingly called “the unofficial mayor of Union Hall” by his many friends and neighbors. He lived a life of selfless service to others. He was a devoted and loving husband to Becky for 31 years, and a loving and proud father of Sarah (fiancé Adam Sharrow), William and Andrew. He is also survived by his sisters, Janice Macy of Tucson, Arizona, and Christine Schneider of Chicago, Illinois. Richard Alan Kettlety of Union Hall, Virginia, passed away on December 3, 2020. Richard was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
