Victor W. Lowe Obituary

After a hard-fought battle with an aggressive cancer, Victor ‘Vic' Wayne Lowe of Terre Haute, IN passed away peacefully at home on December 1, 2020 in Hospice Care at age 61.  He was surrounded by his loved ones and covered in prayer as he left this Earth.

Vic was born on August 16, 1959 at Saint Anthony’s Hospital to Walter ‘Bud' Lowe and Wanda Needham Lowe.  He grew up with one brother James Smith.  Vic had a talent for sports especially baseball.  He was well known for his pitching abilities and his record making in Babe Ruth.  Also at a young age he developed a passion for fishing.  As he turned into an adult he loved to fish for catfish out on the river.  It was his number one favorite hobby and place to be.  He taught all his kids and grandkids how to fish and always cherished those memories.

Vic leaves behind a large family.  He is survived by his wife of 44 years Trudy Jackson Lowe.  Four children:  Kristel (Bill) Vasas of Terre Haute, IN, Kassie (Shawn) Forman of Morehead, KY, Kelsie (Garrett) Vandeventer of IN and Eli Lowe of Abilene, TX.  12 Grandchildren.  His Mother Wanda Lowe of Terre Haute, IN.  His brother Jim Smith of Danville, IL.  Sister-in-Law Dianne Bogle of Terre Haute, IN and Sister-in-Law Malinda (Don) Cook of Edwardsville, IL. and many extended family.  He is preceded in death by his Father Walter Lowe, Father-in-Law Jerry Jackson and Mother-in-Law Sigrid Jackson.

Vic was a 38 year member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #157.  He enjoyed playing softball for the local team in his younger years.  He took a lot of pride in being a Union member and made life long friends with co-workers.  The family would like to say a special thank you to the Local #157 Main Office:  Patty, Web, P.A. and Mark.  Thank you for your support, prayers and shoulders to cry on.  Also thank you to the office staff in the Health and Welfare Office for your support during this difficult time.   Thank you to Chris Lady and The Benefit Club for knowing our needs before we even knew, your kindness will never be forgotten.

Our family would like to acknowledge some individuals we know were placed in Vic’s life to help us get through this time:

First and foremost to everyone who prayed for Vic and our family your prayers kept us going.
Steve Dumphey, you were there from day one helping us weather the beginning of this storm. It has meant so much to us.  Thank you..
Mike Miller your friendship and humor has been a bright spot for Vic during this dark time.  Also your prayers made an impact on him.
Dennis Huey, you have truly been Vic’s life long best friend.  No words can express our gratitude and what it meant to us for you being there for Vic and the family.  We want you to know you are an honorary family member for life.  May God Bless you!
Denise Keegan and Peggy Gastineau for all your years of friendship, prayers, advice, listening ears and for just being great friends.

A thank you to Vic’s medical team:  Dr. Girish Kunapareddy, Dr. Haerr, Dr. Dultz and all their staff.  Your compassion and not passing judgment is a testament to your profession. We will forever be grateful.

A thank you to Wabash Valley Hospice who carried us through Vic’s final days.

A thank you to Fitzpatrick Funeral Home for being so kind and compassionate.  You have no idea how much comfort this brings.

Due to Covid 19 there will be no visitation or funeral.  Vic wanted cremated and his ashes spread at his favorite cat fishing spot at a future date.  In lieu of flowers the family asks if you’d like to honor Vic please either donate to Wabash Valley Hospice or to the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #157 Benefit Club.

Vic will be greatly missed but, we are taking comfort in his healing and that he is no longer in pain.  He’s fishing for the ultimate catfish in Heaven while getting to know Jesus.  Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
