Bud Akers, age 75 of Betsy Layne, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Kentucky. He was born April 3, 1945 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Jeff & Sintha Kidd Akers. He was the husband of Sharon Mulkey Akers. He was a superintendent for the KY State Highway Transportation Department, US Army Veteran and a member of Betsy Layne Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his wife he is survived by his Children: Donna Akers of South Bend, Indiana & David Lee Akers of South Bend, Indiana; Stepdaughters: Donna Gulley of Galesburg, Illinois & Christa (George) Campbell of Pikeville, Kentucky; Sisters: Hazel Cole of Wellington, Ohio & Christine Kelly; 3 Grandchildren, 5 Step Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren & 4 Step Great Grandchildren; Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his Brother & Sisters: Ronald Akers, Emma Lou Clark & Lillian Coffman. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Visitation will begin Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 6pm at the funeral home Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 7, 2020 at 1pm at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky with Barry Clark officiating Burial will follow at Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, Kentucky
