<p>James W. Van Deventer, 88, of Brazil, Indiana, fell asleep in death on December 2, 2020. <br /> Jim was born on August 16, 1932, to Lewis and Evelyn (Woods) Van Deventer. <br /> On December 29, 1951, he married Patricia Ann Schlatter. In just a few days they would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. <br /> Jim was manager of the Terre Haute UPS<br /> location until he moved on to join his father-in-law in the television repair business, later known as Jim’s TV Repair. <br /> He enjoyed the outdoors immensely, as could be seen in the way he kept his property. <br /> Jim was baptized, as a symbol of his dedication to Jehovah God, on March 8, 1997. He was a proud member of the Forest Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. <br /> Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Roland and Everett Van Deventer; father and mother-in-law Ulrich and Blanche Schlatter; brother and sister-in-law William and Emma Angleton; great-grandson Braden Rusk, as well as great-nephew Joe Officer. <br /> Jim is survived by his loving wife; children Don and Karen Strege, Denny and Sharon McCullough; grandchildren Mason and Stephanie Rusk, Dustin McCullough, Jazmine Render and Symone Newport; great-grandchildren Quade Rusk, Grady Rusk and Reece Render; nephew and nieces Robert and Debbie Officer, Linda Angleton, as well as great-nephew Kevin Angleton. <br /> Private graveside services are being planned by the family. <br /> </p>Obituary
