George R. Hunt

George Robert Hunt, 87, born July 6, 1933, passed on December 4, 2020. George retired from Memphis City Schools in June 1998, having served 36 years as an art teacher, football and track coach. George was a dynamic speaker, educator, athlete and artist. He had a Bachelor of Arts degree in art education from AM&N (UAPB). George is preceded in death by his son, Kylan Hunt, who passed on November 16, 2018; and his parents, Hettie Baugh Hunt and Nolan Hunt. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of nearly 64 years, Marva Woods Hunt; daughter, Harlyn Hunt Yeargin (Darryl Anthony) of Louisville, KY; grandson, Darryl Cash Yeargin of Louisville, KY; granddaughter, Dallas Grace Hunt of Valrico, FL; and a host of other relatives and friends. Our love of you cannot be measured, our hearts will never be the same again, rest in peace husband, daddy and granddaddy. A memorial parade will take place on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 12:00 noon on Beale Street in his honor. Serenity Funeral Home, Tel. (901)379-0861.
