Daniel Eric Power Minto, New Brunswick Obituary

Daniel Eric Power

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our brother Dan. Dan was a well-known and respected resident of Minto - he was articulate, intelligent and had a great sense of humour to those who knew him well. He was a caring and generous person and friend with a kind heart. As an avid Gardener, Hunter, Fisher & Harley owner he loved to share his knowledge with everyone and promptly corrected you when wrong! This was all part of his charm to us who knew and loved him. Dan was well educated and took pride in knowing how to do many things, an avid reader and a Professional Engineer by trade graduating from UNB Fredericton as a Mechanical Engineer and the NBCCSJ Instrumentation Program and from NBCC Moncton CAD/CAM Programs. His career started with Neil & Gunter of Fredericton travelling extensively throughout the Maritimes and eastern USA. Sadly, Dan had just retired on October 1st after having a successful 23 year career at NB Power, Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station's Engineering Group and was a proud member of the IBEW. Dan was most at home in one of the many tractors surrounded by nature at the family cottage (fondly known as The Ponderosa) where many friends and family gathered, hunted, shared many beverages, movies, laughs and stories. You will be fondly remembered and sadly missed when we are there without you. Dan was predeceased by his father, L.S.G.(Goldie) Power and his mother, Marguerite (Barton) Power and survived by older brother, Patrick (Charlotte) , sister, Lynn, both of Dartmouth, N.S and younger brother Mark(Nancy) of Rothesay, N.B. Uncle Dan will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Jillian, Alex, Ben, Noah, Jacob, Abigail, Olivia, Taylor and Grace. Special thanks to Tanya Bowmaster, Jacquie Donovan and Dianne Gibbons for being there for, and helping Dan. He thought the world of you all. Donations may be made in Dan's memory to Duck's Unlimited or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Due to Covid restrictions at this time, a celebration of Life and Internment at Saint Bridget's Cemetery will be held at a later date.
