Obituary

Erick Anthony Mead, born December 12, 1994 in New Haven, CT died suddenly in West Haven, CT on November 23, 2020.  Erick was a beautiful soul who treasured his family and friends.  He often reminded his younger brothers “remember, family first”.  He is survived by his Mother, Therese Purdue (Nathaniel Purdue) of West Haven, his Father, Ralph Mead of Sebastian, Florida; his brothers who were always first in his heart: Steven Purdue, Nathaniel Purdue and Emmanuel Purdue, all of West Haven, Ct., his Grandmothers, Judith DaCunto (James Datcher) of West Haven and Laura Mead Morales of New Haven CT.  His love, Laura Carasco of West Haven, their little Dog Princess, lifelong friends Andrew Kaufman and Brandin DiGioia and many friends he held close to his heart.  He is predeceased by his Grandfathers Anthony DaCunto and Gordon Mead.  Erick missed his Grandfather Anthony DaCunto “Sparky” terribly, often visiting his grave and will be buried alongside him.

Erick was always there to help his loved ones, especially those in emotional turmoil.  He often used his hysterical sense of humor to lift our spirits and bring laughter to our lips.  Although he suffered the last year of his life, he never stopped caring about others.  He loved bringing friends over to his home for family meals and fully encouraged them to try his grandmother’s homemade cookies and brownies.

Erick was an artist who wrote, recorded and performed hours of rap tunes with 3rd Ave Records.  He was true to himself and his music, quotes from his lyrics include “Just start being you and stop being pretentious” and also his self-fulfilled prophesy of “When I’m gone, I hope I live on with my songs”.

Erick graduated from West Haven High School in 2013, was the co-owner of Friends and Family Moving Company, was attending New England Tractor and Trailer School in Bridgeport, CT, was working at Brugger’s Bagels in Orange Connecticut and Subway in North Haven, Ct at the time his death.

All of us who were close to Erick will miss him every day of our lives. He was taken much too early and will be missed by a world who needs love and compassion so desperately.  Rest easy my love until we meet again.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Our Lady of Victory Church, 300 Captain Thomas Blvd. West Haven.  There will be a maximum limit of 50 people allowed in the church due to Covid-19 restrictions.
