Shirley Marie Leary, 68, of Meriden and formerly of Middletown, transitioned from this life to her home in Glory with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 26, 2020 in the comfort of her own home. Born January 29, 1952 to the late James and Carrie (Perry) Leary in Colerain, N.C. She was the youngest of 7 Siblings, survived by 4 sisters; Velma Perry, Reather Mae Leary, Mary Evora (John H) Wright, Doris Leary and brother James (Rose) Leary Jr. and predeceased by her sisters Mollie Lane and Geneva Leary. Shirley was a faithful Women of GOD and a member of The Apostolic Community Church of Meriden for the last 27 years under The Late Pastor Judy H. Moss. This Pillar of the Church was the Creator and Organizer of the Spiritual House Cleaning, President of the Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher, Christian Education Secretary and then to Treasurer, was a certified Missionary, ran the food pantry for over 14 years and became one of the Mother Of The Church! She had many talents like finding the best Tag Sales on the weekends, keeping her plants thriving with her green thumb, and creating some of the most Devine cakes like her Chocolate Pecan cake and her Pineapple 7up upside Down Cake, just to name a few! But most of all Shirleys passion was the love and care for her grand and great grandchildren! Shirley is survived by 3 children: Amanda Leary, Katrina Leary and Anthony Leary. Along with them are her 15 grandchildren; Baughnita, Katisha, Breaja, Rodney, Tyshawn, Lateasha, Lemontrel, Kiara, Shanea, Alexis, Alfonzo, Andre, Jason, Antonia, Dondray and eighteen great-grandchildren; Sanaa and Dacari (Deceased) Ty’ashia, Ka’liyah, Ka’lil, Cairo, Caius, Jaden, Ja’la, Ja’miyah, Jordan, Serenity, Justin, Caison, Kaden, Kyler, Carter and Elliana. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The Viewing hours will be from 9:30-10:30am following with the Funeral services that will be held at the Apostolic Community Church, 146 Center St., Meriden, CT on Thursday, December 3rd, at 10:30 a.m. with the Pastor Dante Moss officiating and the interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middletown CT at 1:00 pm. The John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden is entrusted with the arrangements.
