Louis Elias Eliakis Obituary

The passing of Louis Elias Eliakis of Fredericton, NB, husband of Deborah “Debbie” (Brooks) Eliakis occurred on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Fredericton Hospice House. Born on November 22, 1948 in Chania, Crete, Greece, he was the son of the late Ioannis and Stamatia (Papastavrou) Eliakis. Louis came to Montreal, Canada in 1972 at the age of 24, and then moved to New Brunswick, where he met his wife, Debbie. He was a Welder and Pipe Fitter and belonged to Local 325 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters. Louis enjoyed hunting, fishing and all things outdoors, and especially liked his time camping at Great Bear Camp Ground; he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Louis is survived by his children, John Eliakis (Kristine) and Anna Maria Eliakis (Chris Hall); grandchildren, Elias, Brandon, Hannah, John, Lia and Ella; siblings, Renna (Ioannis) Matsama of Greece; Theo (Nancy) and Dimitri (Debbie) Eliakis of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his infant sister, Eleni. The family wish to express their gratitude for the care and compassion given to Louis by Dr. Benaya (Sebbaston), Dr. Belhadjsalah (Jamila), Rachel Garland (RN Heart Function Clinic), Lenore White Hann his favourite RCT, Dr. Leo Cruz, Dr. Vayani (Farah), Dr. Sophie Pilon, Staff of 3SW, Hospice House, specifically Stephanie and Carlie for going above and beyond to take care of both Louis and the family it was much felt. Due to the current health concerns, Covid restrictions will be in place. Visitation will take at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, December 6, 2020 from 2-5 pm. The Funeral Service by invitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 11am with Father Matthew Penny officiating. The public are invited to attend via www.yorkfh.com funeral webcast. Interment will take place in Dayton Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or Fredericton Hospice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
