<p>George Howard Harbour 87, of Terre Haute, died in his sleep November 30, 2020 another victim of Covid 19. He was born February 21, 19332&nbsp;to William A. and Freda Harbour.</p> <p>He was a 1951 graduate of State High School where he enjoyed playing his trombone in band and orchestra. He loved basketball and participated on the B-Team and was the Varsity Team Manager. He was also the Student Council Vice President his senior year.</p> <p>George joined the US Army in 1953 along with his brother Lowell Edward Harbour where he was a member of the 437th Army Band in Ft Carson, CO. After his service he became a member of the American Legion. He was a great trombone player and enjoyed playing in several bands including the Highlanders Dixieland Band, the Jackson Township Band, and the Brazil Concert Band. He was also known to have marched in the Legion Cadet Band when his cousin, Warren Henderson needed a trombone player.</p> <p>He met the love of his life, Jewell Joan Hunter, April 6, 1951 at a talent contest at Blackhawk High School where he played &ldquo;Blue Moon&rdquo; on his trombone and this became their song. They were married December 19, 1953.</p> <p>In addition to all the bands he was in, he was also a member of the Highlanders Chorus, Terre Haute Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society in the early 70&rsquo;s.</p> <p>He was a member of the former 4th Avenue United Methodist Church.</p> <p>He was an employee of Bemis Bag, Skelgas, and retired from Union Hospital where he was in the Transport Department.</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents William A. Harbour Sr and Freda Harbour, his wife Jewell Joan Harbour, his brothers Owen Harbour and William A. Harbour Jr (Bill), his sister in- law Linda Harbour (Ed&rsquo;s wife), and his daughter in-law Gwendolyn Bailey Harbour.</p> <p>George is survived by his children Cindy Johnson and husband Roger, Howard Harbour and wife Loretta, Rod Harbour and wife Marcia; grandchildren Christina Wrightsman and husband Kevin, Derek Johnson and wife Andrea, Curtis Harbour, Valerie Wilson and husband Paul, Ethan Harbour and Sean Harbour; great grandchildren Keira, Cadence, and Taylor Wrightsman, and Josephine Johnson; brother Lowell Edward Harbour (Ed), and sister in-law Ann Harbour (Bill&rsquo;s wife). Also, several nieces and nephews.</p> <p>There will be no services at this time due to Covid. A memorial will be held sometime in 2021.
