<p>Robert &quot;Bob&rdquo; Pierce passed away on November 29, 2020 at the Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Arizona after an extended fight with cancer.&nbsp; He was 79.</p> <p>Mr. Pierce was born on August 24, 1941 in Lake City, Iowa to his parents, Walter and Georgia Pierce. &nbsp;Mr. Pierce is survived by Amy Pierce, his wife of 55 years, his sons Jeffrey and Timothy, his daughter Jennifer, sister Myrna, brother James, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Georgia and his brother Steven.</p> <p>After growing up on a farm near Lake City, he attended Iowa State University before volunteering for the Navy in 1961. While in the Navy, he attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California where he learned Chinese Mandarin and served as a Chinese interpreter upon graduation.&nbsp; In 1965, after serving in Asia for three years, Mr. Pierce was honorably discharged from the service and started his career at IBM.</p> <p>He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University Los Angeles, and a Master degree in Business Administration from University of Southern California.&nbsp; He was a member of the Mensa International Society and a certified project management professional (PMP).&nbsp;</p> <p>The Pierces moved several times from California to Maryland to facilitate career growth while raising a family.&nbsp; Mr. Pierce&rsquo;s 30-year career at IBM took him to 33 countries.&nbsp; Before retiring, he was a senior manager of the IBM International Systems Center for Asia Pacific and Latin America providing technical and management advisory support to 47 countries. After retiring from IBM, Mr. Pierce continued working in Information Technology as a senior management consultant for another ten years.</p> <p>Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, a virtual private family service will be held on December 4, 2020 at the Camino Del Sol Memorial Chapel in Sun City West, Arizona. Robert "Bob” Pierce passed away on November 29, 2020 at the Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Arizona after an extended fight with cancer.  He was 79.
