David Dale Chidester Obituary

David Dale Chidester, age 61, of Urbandale died peacefully Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines.  Face masks and social distancing will be required.  You may watch the livestream of the Celebration of Life Service by clicking https://hopeonline.tv/specialevents.

David Chidester’s Life Story

David Dale Chidester was born on August 30, 1959 in Osceola, Iowa to Dale & Beverly (Curnes) Chidester. 

David graduated from Morman Trail High School in Garden Grove, Iowa in 1977 and then went to Southwestern Community College in Creston where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Engineering.

On September 8, 2018, David married Betty Jean Sirdoreus in Altoona, Iowa.  The blended family included their children, Christopher, Becca, Liz, Nikki and Nathan.

David worked for Truck Equipment Company for 25 years doing both inside and outside sales.  He was very devoted to his family and his church, Hope Lutheran, in West Des Moines where he was involved with the Men of Hope men’s ministry. David spent many years and countless hours as a Scout leader.  Betty and David were members of the Croatian Center and they enjoyed their weekends dancing together and socializing with friends.  David also enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Dale & Beverly (Curnes) Chidester and a brother, Donald, who died at birth.

David will forever be remembered by his wife, Betty Chidester of Urbandale, their combined children Christopher (Jordan) of McCallsburg, Iowa, Becca of Huxley, Iowa, Liz of Ames Iowa, Nikki Pasutti of Osceola, Iowa and Nathan Pasutti of Des Moines, Iowa; three grandchildren – Serenity, Braelynn and Jace; three step-grandchildren – Summer, Nick and Jasmine; his sisters Mary (Aaron) Suko of Marana, Arizona and Chris (Dan) Mortenson of Urbandale, Iowa; nephew Aaron Mortenson of Des Moines, Iowa; and close family friend Sam Brown.
