Cortez Grayson Obituary

Cortez Grayson Sr. was born August 15, 1972 to Namon and Kathleen Battle, he attended Wichita Public Schools, where at Curtis Junior High School he played basketball. In 1990 he graduated from Southeast High School. He started Barber School in 1999 and graduated a year later. Once he graduated, he began working at 21st Avenue Barbershop where he worked with his friend Marvin Oakley. 2010 he met and married the love of his live Ebony Polite. They remained in Wichita, Kansas where they help raised each other's children. Cortez always had an open ear willing to listen and would give anything to help a person in need. He found joy in music, dancing, traveling, spending time with family, and do not forget he loved to drink coffee while watching television. Becoming a deacon and owning a funeral home were some of his lifelong goals.

On November 26, 2020, God reached down from heaven and granted Cortez eternal rest.

Welcoming Cortez at heaven's gates is his father, Namon Battle, maternal grandparents David and Gladys Grayson; brother-in-law Taraz Polite and mother-in-law Debra Polite.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his mother, Kathleen Battle; beloved wife Ebony Grayson; sons, Rontez Grayson, Domnique Dees, and Cortez Grayson Jr. and bonus son Jomarion Nelson; daughters, Chaquel Grayson, C'Toria Grayson, Imari Grayson and Corri Grayson; sisters, Stephanie (Edgar) Martinez, Donia Dozier, Carla (Edgar) Ingram, sister/cousin Shawnda Johnson, father-in-law Gregory Polite, 8 grandchildren, 1 niece, 7 nephews and other extended family and friends that will miss Cortez dearly.
