Sandra Ellen Mansfield Sorensen Obituary

Sandra Ellen Mansfield Pratt Sorensen, 83, passed away November 27, 2020 in American Fork, Utah.  She was born July 17, 1937 in Portland, Oregon to Roy John Mansfield and Virginia Pauline Lynn Mansfield.  She married Joseph Mead Pratt on December 3, 1955 in Vancouver, Washington.  He passed away August 19, 1991.  She later married Richard James Sorensen on July 13, 2002 in Logan, Utah.  He passed away October 11, 2012.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Donald and Dan Mansfield, her husbands, and three children; Jennifer Rae, Charlene Jeanette, and Mark Edwin Pratt. She is survived by her children: Joseph Mansfield (Stephanie) of Indianola, Utah; JoEllen Marie Duncan (John) of Cameron, Missouri; David Sterling (Julie) of Bountiful, Utah; Stephen Devon (Bernice) of American Fork, Utah; Rosemarie Lynn Griffith (Michael) Woodbridge, Virginia; Eileen Renee Manning (Michael-deceased) of American Fork, Utah; Truman Roy (Debbie) of Cameron, Missouri; Deanna Jean Baird (Tom) of West Jordan, Utah; Karen Cherie Burton (Justin) of Bountiful, Utah; Glen Matthew (Tamma) of Orem, Utah; Forty-Nine grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.

Sandy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a deep and firm testimony. She served an LDS mission to Dallas Texas from 1999-2000. She was a temple worker and held callings in Primary, Relief Society, Young Women’s and Sunday School where she taught Genealogy. She loved doing Family History and her work was extensive and continued until just a few years before her death. 

In high school she was Girls League President her Senior year and Song Queen her Junior year. She loved square dancing, ceramics, crochet and sewing. She made many outfits and dresses for her children and grandchildren and even Barbie Dolls. She held many jobs throughout her life such as, driving for airport shuttles, delivering flowers, payroll and Senior Companions. At one time she painted black and white photos. However, her most loved job was that of wife and mother. Sandra loved being with her family. She also had many lifelong friendships. She had the ability to keep in touch with friends and neighbors from every era and place in her life. She is dearly loved by many.

Funeral Services will be Monday Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. in Spring Creek 3rd Ward, 651 East 1630 South, Lehi for siblings, children/spouses, and grandchildren only. Please RSVP. A Zoom link will be provided below for those who cannot attend.

A viewing will be held for friends and extended family on Sunday Dec.6, from 6 to 8 p.m. Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100, American Fork and Monday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
