Corlene Rose Obituary

Corlene B. Rose, 92 of New London, died Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at her home of natural causes.  A celebration of life will be 11:00 a.m.  Saturday August 21, 2021 at Shores of St. Andrew Bible Camp Marble Church (19080 16th St. NE New London).  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Graveside services were previously held at Oak Hill Cemetery in New London.  Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London

Corlene Beatrice Rose was born on January 29, 1928, on the family farm in Norway Lake Township, the daughter of Ole and Hannah (Engen) Aasen.  She attended country grade school in district #95 and New London High School, graduating in 1945.  On July 18, 1947, Corlene was united in marriage to Robert Rose at Norway Lake Lutheran Church.  They made their home in New London where they owned and operated a laundromat adjacent to Rose Meat Market and she was a cook at the elementary school.  Much of her life was devoted to serving others while planning and preparing homestyle meals for guests at Shores of St. Andrew Bible Camp.  She retired after 41 years of service.

Corlene’s recipe for a life well lived was putting God first, working hard, and serving others with generous helpings and a smile.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She was especially close to her nephews, nieces and their families.

She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and had accumulated a large collection of framed photographs going back many generations.  She maintained a fond connection to the farmland toiled by her parents near Norway Lake.

She loved baking Scandinavian lefse, kringla, and molasse cookies. Having fresh sweets and coffee for company was important.  She had a special talent for putting things together to complete a project.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and woodworking.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and associate member of East Norway Lake Lutheran Church.  She taught Sunday school, attended bible study and quilting group.  She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Corlene died on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at her home in New London of natural causes at the age of 92.  She is survived by daughter, Susan Sides and fiancé, Scoop Reif of St. Cloud; grandson, Jimi Rose and wife, Raya Yampolsky; one niece and four nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; son, Bill and parents.
