Marv L. Boatman Obituary

Marv L. Boatman, age 80, passed away peacefully Friday, November 27, 2020. He was a lifelong resident of Hot Springs, graduating from H.S. High School and the University of Arkansas with a degree in marketing which he applied in his several businesses. Marv served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Marv never met a stranger. He enjoyed meeting his pals for breakfast at his favorite local cafes. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, local history, hunting and fishing. Preceding him in death were his parents,Henry Allen and Cecil (Smith) Boatman, brother H.A. Boatman, Jr. (Joe), sisters Opal McKee, Vera Witcher, and Vivian Houlton. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Leigh Cates and son-in-law, Tre' Cates, of Boulder, Colorado.He is also survived by two grandsons of whom he was very proud, Trevor Allen Cates of Boulder, Colorado, and Preston Cates, who is a graduate student in Austria, a brother, Euell Boatman (Dzidra), of Avon, Indiana, cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to express gratitude to the ICU staff of CHI St. Vincent for their compassionate care. No public services will be held due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Garland County Historical Society or bless someone by buying them breakfast and a cup of coffee.
