Pauline J. (Cutler) Jacobs, 94, a resident of North Street, passed away Tuesday December 1, 2020 at the Vermont Veterans Home. A lifelong resident, Pauline was born in Bennington, VT on December 30, 1925 the daughter of the late Merrill and Mary Mattison Cutler. She graduated Pro Merito from Bennington High School and was secretary and treasurer of her class. Pauline worked for Fishman’s Department Store, Better T.V., Sears and was office manager and retired from Suburban Propane. She also worked for Cushman’s and owned her own sewing business for many years. Pauline was a member of the Grange, Moose Club, Snowmobile Club in Bennington and the Square-Dancing Club – The Catamount Gadabouts. She was the former President of AARP, Bennington Chapter a member of the Garden Club and member of the Altar Guild at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. She enjoyed sewing, was known for baking cookies, traveled to the Paratroopers Convention with her husband, enjoyed big band music and was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriot fan. Pauline enjoyed reading, watching old movies and playing bingo. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a Red Cross volunteer and worked at the hospital gift store. She traveled with her husband camping and various road trips. Pauline is survived by her children Christopher Jacobs (Cynthia) of Shaftsbury, VT, Gregory Jacobs (Cheryl) and Chery Harrington (Bill) both of Bennington, brother-in-law Dick Gallant and many grandchildren great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband whom she met on a blind date and married in Bennington on January 19, 1946. Mr. Jacobs passed away March 6, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her daughters Valarie M. Mould, Darlene M. Jacobs sister Betty Ann Gallant and her brother Merrill Cutler. Funeral services for Pauline will be held on Saturday December 5 at 11am at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home in honor of her two favorite colors those attending are encouraged to wear something purple or green. Interment will follow in the Woodford Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 10-11am.
