Earl Dikstaal, age 84, of Milbank, SD,  died on December 2, 2020, at Milbank Area Hospital-Avera Health.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank.  Rev. Tim Koch will officiate.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home and continue at the church on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery.

While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to gather for visitations and services. The use of face masks by attendees is recommended, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our facility clean. Earl Bert Dikstaal was born on March 21, 1936, in Grant County, SD.  He was the son of Bert and Amelia (Runge) Dikstaal.  He attended rural school in Grant County.  He was united in marriage with Carolea Schmidt on June 2, 1956, in Milbank. They were blessed with a son, David.

Earl was a hard-working man.  He loved farming and did custom combining, traveling to several states including Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. He also worked for many years as an income tax preparer, in his own office.  He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church.

Earl enjoyed life and had a great sense of humor.  He and his son enjoyed hunting together.  His family treasures and admires Earl’s work ethic.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolea of Milbank, SD; and son, David Dikstaal of Milbank, SD; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a half-brother, Orville (Evelyn) Hillbrands of Milbank, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Amelia; and his sister, Vera.
