Margaret Ellen Callahan Obituary

CALLAHAN, Margaret Ellen - It is with profound sadness, and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Margaret Ellen Callahan (nee McTernan), 88, of Belleville, Ontario, on November 29, 2020, at home with her family by her side. She was a wonderful mother, and wife, who leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. Beloved wife of Kent Callahan, for 58 years. Much loved mother of Elizabeth McGarvey (Tony), and Maureen Callahan. Cherished Nana of Conor, Emma, and Rory McGarvey. Marg is predeceased by her sisters Rita Dunley (Jim), Mary Vollick (Maurice), and Lucille Coulter (Gerald). Remembered fondly by her nieces and nephews Mary Garrah (late Joseph), Mike Dunley (Jan), Randy Vollick (Lisa), Colin Vollick, and Stephen Vollick (Lesley). Marg was born and raised in Point Anne, of which she was very proud, she often reminisced about her happy childhood there. In 1962, while square dancing (her favorite pastime), she met her soulmate, Kent. Together they raised their two girls, providing an idyllic family life. Marg was immensely proud of her family, and was her grandchildren’s biggest fan. She will be dearly missed, and forever in our hearts. Marg was a dedicated volunteer for many years for the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. She loved to be active, and participated in curling, traveling, and playing cards. Marg was a caring, and kind soul, who loved to laugh, and always had a smile on her face. She will also be missed by many friends. We would like to offer our sincere thanks, and gratitude to the wonderful staff of Helping Hands, who provided wonderful support. A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Father Richard Whalen, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Belleville. Rite of Committal Prayers will follow at Saint James Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of John R. Bush Funeral Home (613-968-5588) 80 Highland Avenue, Belleville. if desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or Gleaners Foodbank.
