<p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Lawrence H. Phillips, Sr., 94, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday November 24, 2020.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Lawrence was born on July 13, 1926, in Hixson, TN, to James B. and Callie S. (McKelvey) Phillips; both have preceded him in death.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Lawrence served our country in the U.S. Army Merchant Marines during WWII and during the Korean Conflict. He received a certificate as a draftsman through Kirkman Tech. High School.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Lawrence retired from Container Corp. of America after 39 years of service as a salesman/engineer and developed 3 patents (seen in frozen dinner packaging, Krystal packaging and KFC bucket packaging). He also retired from Shorewood Printing and Mechanical Packaging after 14 years of service and was instrumental in getting Shorewood into the packaging end of business.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Lawrence enjoyed playing golf, was an avid bowler, and enjoyed big band music from the &lsquo;40s. Lawrence loved baseball and was a staunch Atlanta Braves fan.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>He is survived by his children, Georgia A. (Randy) Rawiszer, David P. (Susan) Phillips, Lawrence H. (Mary Lu) Phillips, Jr.; and 6 grandchildren.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>A graveside service will be held Friday, December 4th at 2:30 pm at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor David Hall officiating and where military honors will be performed by the U.S. Army. Lawrence H. Phillips, Sr., 94, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday November 24, 2020.
