Bertha Leona Andrew Meyers, 87, was born on March 18, 1933 in Gravois Mills, Missouri, to Thomas and Beulah (Scarborough) Andrew. She went to be with the Lord she served all her life with on Dec. 1, 2020, from complications after a spinal fracture.

Bertha, known as Sis or Sissie, to all her family, was the fourth of nine children. When she was nearly 8, shortly after the ninth baby was born, Bertha’s mother passed away. She and her siblings were adopted by her Aunt Bertha and Uncle Paul Adams, except for the baby who was adopted by another family. Her Uncle Paul was a poor tenant farmer, so he moved the family often. Bertha went to 11 schools in 12 years in Missouri, Kansas and Idaho.

After graduating from high school in the tiny town of Paul, Idaho, she went to Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho where she met Ronald L. Meyers, who was studying to become a preacher. They soon fell in love and were married on June 21, 1952. After a brief time in Olney, where Ronnie taught grades four through eight at the small school there, they took their first pastorate in Libby. They went on to pastor Churches of the Nazarene in Glasgow, Butte, Whitefish, Sheridan, Wyoming, Pablo, John Day, Oregon, and Powell, Wyoming. When Ronnie’s health deteriorated, they moved back to Pablo where he served as an associate pastor. Later, when he turned 70, they accepted a call to be the interim pastor at Columbia Falls. They also served as associate pastors in Kalispell for several years. After Ronnie passed away in 2012, Bertha continued to live in their home, caring for the house and lawn by herself until her mid-80s, when she moved into a senior apartment where she lived until a fall in March, at which time she moved into a nursing facility.

Bertha was a sweet, wonderful and talented woman, and she was loved by everyone and was very much adored by her five children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her church and made many lifelong friends in each church she and Ronnie pastored. She loved to spend time with her family, read and quilt. She made the most beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren until it became too hard for her to do. She also made quilted handbags and quilted wall hangings. Bertha was a Proverbs 31 Woman who left us a great legacy and heritage.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Beulah Andrew and her stepmother Mary Andrew, the uncle and aunt who raised her, Paul and Bertha Adams, her brothers, Hubert, Paul, Vernon, Ivan and Charles Andrew, her sisters, Violet Autenrieth and Jane Mewes, her husband Ronald Meyers, son-in-law Jon Adams and step-grandson Jordain O’Neill.

She is survived by all five of her children, daughter Faith Adams of Kalispell, son Rodney (Lynnette) Meyers of Kalispell, son Jim (Lorraine) Meyers of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Son Randy (Tonya) Meyers of Las Vegas, daughter Vicki (Paul) Funk of Nampa; grandchildren, Chris Adams, Todd (Cassie) Adams, Cody Meyers, Adam (Sami Jo) Meyers, Rachel (Tom) Albright, Bre Anne Meyers, Brenton Meyers, Brauhn Roberts, Seth Johnson, Shelby (Kevin) Harper, Conner Hammer, Rachel O’Neill, Cody O’Neill; great-grandchildren, Chance Adams, Isaac Adams, Neehl Adams, Dylan Adams, Isabella Meyers, Ben Meyers, Pierce Meyers, Trinity Albright, Ryker Albright, Landen Albright, Elijah Albright, Leland Meyers, Kaden Harper; one sister, Janice Scott of Nebraska, and by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Bertha will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her family is grateful for the care she has received at Immanuel Lutheran Care Center, Kalispell Regional Medical Center Emergency Room and Hospice at the Kalispell HealthCenter. She had some amazing caregivers, nurses and doctors.

Her family is being cared for by Buffalo Hill Funeral Home in Kalispell. A private family graveside service will be held at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery today, Dec. 11.

A memorial service for family and friends will take place in May or June when the COVID Pandemic will hopefully be over and the weather nicer for family and friends who will be traveling.
