Alfred Allen McCalla

<p>Alfred A. McCalla, age 73, of Chappell, NE, passed away, Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO.</p> <p>Alfred was born November 19, 1947 to Albert and Edna (Petrie) McCalla in Wray, Colorado.&nbsp;</p> <p>He attended school in Wray and moved to Ogallala with the family, where he attended Ogallala High School.&nbsp;</p> <p>Alfred joined the Army in 1966 and was sent to Vietnam and was honorably discharged on January 31, 1969. He was a Purple Heart Recipient&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>After he was discharged from the Army he returned to Ogallala, where he worked for Armor Ready Mix and was a Heavy Equipment Operator.&nbsp;</p> <p>Alfred was united in marriage to Gladys Anderson on September 13, 1969 in Ogallala and made their home in Paxton, NE.&nbsp;</p> <p>He moved to Chappell, NE after their divorce where he was a truck driver. Upon his retirement he still operated heavy equipment for his friends when they asked.</p> <p>Alfred is survived by 2 daughters; Anna Marie (Doug) Parks, of North Platte, NE; Aimee Barnett, of Andover, CT; 1 brother; Daniel (Joyce) McCalla, of Yellville, AR; 1 sister; Evelyn Joyce Mehus, of Medford, OR; 1 granddaughter; Nicolle &quot;Barnett&quot; Miller; and 4 grandsons; Bretton, Matthew and Christopher Parks, and Cory Barnett.</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Mary Ann Nordin and Alberta Pevler; 2 brothers, Calvin and Edward McCalla; and 1 grandson, Devon Lane Parks</p> <p>Visitation will be held, December 6, 2020 from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. (M.T.) with family greeting friends from 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. (M.T.) at the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel in Ogallala.&nbsp;</p> <p>A Graveside Service will be held, Monday, December 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. (C.T.) at the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, NE with military honors by the Army with Rev. Mark Baldwin of the United Methodist Church of Paxton officiating.&nbsp;</p> <p>Online condolences can be given at www.drauckerfh.com by clicking the share a memory button.&nbsp;</p> <p>A memorial has been established in his memory.</p> <p>COVID-19 precautions are still being followed and masks are recommended for the visitation. Alfred A. McCalla, age 73, of Chappell, NE, passed away, Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO.

Alfred was born November 19, 1947 to Albert and Edna (Petrie) McCalla in Wray, Colorado. 

He attended school in Wray and moved to Ogallala with the family, where he attended Ogallala High School. 

Alfred joined the Army in 1966 and was sent to Vietnam and was honorably discharged on January 31, 1969. He was a Purple Heart Recipient  

After he was discharged from the Army he returned to Ogallala, where he worked for Armor Ready Mix and was a Heavy Equipment Operator. 

Alfred was united in marriage to Gladys Anderson on September 13, 1969 in Ogallala and made their home in Paxton, NE.

A Graveside Service will be held, Monday, December 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. (C.T.) at the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, NE with military honors by the Army with Rev. Mark Baldwin of the United Methodist Church of Paxton officiating.
