Paul Ron Patton Temperance, Michigan Obituary

Paul Ron Patton

Paul (Ron) Patton, 75, of Lambertville, MI was ushered from his life here on Earth to his eternal life in Heaven on Monday, November 30, 2020 while surrounded by family. Ron was and always will be a devoted husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He was a friend to all (the man seriously had no enemies), and most who have been lucky enough to know him call him “Papaw”. Papaw was born on September 14, 1945 to Harrison Paul and Earline (Evans) Patton. He graduated from Southside High School in Muncie, IN in 1965. He went on to work for GM Powertrain in both Muncie, IN and Toledo, OH for 47 years. Our Papaw took great pride in his career and was determined to get back to work after he beat cancer. God knew Papaw would never retire and made the call to give him a few quiet months at home with his loving wife, Jewel (Pierce) Patton, who many of you reading this know as “Mamaw”. Ron and Jewel married on May 15, 1965. Together they raised a son, Lonnie Patton (Lee Smith) of Cleveland, TN, and a daughter, Belinda Tincher of Temperance, MI. Papaw put his family first until the very end, always making sure that Mamaw was taken care of and looking out for his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He wanted nothing more in life than to make Mamaw happy, and he was very successful with that for the last 55 years. Papaw was a member of the UAW Local 14 at Powertrain in Toledo, OH and the Masons in Muncie, IN. He was very active in the community, always getting roped into Mamaw’s countless volunteer gigs and never once batting an eye. Papaw loved to golf, solve Sudoku puzzles, play harmonica and guitar, and was known for solving a Rubix cube faster than anyone. He bled Maize and Blue and enjoyed going to Michigan football and basketball games, and watching every replay he could find on YouTube. He was a jack of all trades; there wasn’t a project that he couldn’t handle. He loved animals and we know he was walked Home by countless pets who have been excitedly waiting for him in Heaven. If Papaw wasn’t tinkering around in his garage or mowing perfect stripes in his beautiful lawn, he could be found supporting and cheering on his kids and grandkids in whatever home improvement project, life event, or sporting event was up next on the docket. Papaw was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ricky. He is survived by his wife, his children, his grandchildren Courtney Patton of Muncie, IN, Brittany Tincher-Kaczmarski (Joe) of Lambertville, MI, Holden Tincher of Temperance, MI, his great-grandsons Ryan, Mitchell, and Jaxson of Muncie, IN, his sister Wonetta Bolton of Weeki Wachee, FL, his nieces and nephews, and a whole host of others who can feel the warmth of the sun each day and know that Papaw is smiling down on them. Visitation with COVID-19 guidelines will be from 9:00-10:00am on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Funeral services will be private, live streamed to the public at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 3, 2020. We ask that those who join us at the visitation to celebrate Papaw’s life please wear a mask and refrain from hugs due to COVID-19. We know this will be hard, as we want nothing more than a tight squeeze and a shoulder to cry on, but right now we must all take care of and look out for one another and ourselves. Papaw was the ultimate caregiver and we must now honor his legacy by being caregivers to those in our community. If Papaw can battle brain tumors for four months while staying strong for his family, we can do this. In closing, we ask that those who loved our Papaw grieve however they see fit. If you feel that flowers would brighten Mamaw’s day, send them. If you want to share happy memories, please call. If you feel the need to talk to a trusted professional, set up the appointment. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that life is short, tomorrow is not guaranteed, and we all need to be there for each other because in the end, the ones we love are all that matter. Those you care about most will be the ones to walk you Home when it is your time. Make sure those people know just how much they mean to you - today and always. If you feel compelled to make a donation, we recommend the Glioblastoma Foundation (https://glioblastomafoundation.org) or any other cause that means something to you. Papaw supported many causes during his time with us and we know that he is rooting for your efforts to make the world a better place. We love you, Papaw, and we will miss you every day. We are so very proud of you. We can’t wait to see you again someday.
