Michael James Desfosses Obituary

Michael James DesFosses, 42 of Pocatello Idaho passed away on November 23, 2020 at Portneuf Medical Center following an illness. Born February 15, 1978 in Pocatello Idaho to Paul James DesFosses and Annie (Heuei Chin) DesFosses. Michael was the youngest. He had 2 older brothers who he loved to play tricks on as most younger brothers do. He learned to hunt and mine from his father and older brothers. Michael had a special bond with his Oma. He would do anything for her. She taught him to speak Mandarin and Japanese. It was always fun to listen to them communicate, if Michael did not know the word in Mandarin or Japanese he would substitute it the English word. Michael attended Tendoy Elementary, Franklin Middle School and Highland High School graduating in 1996. He went to college at Idaho State University and got an associates in Medical Assisting. Michael loved to be part of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). He also loved to go hunting with his dad and brother and later his niece and nephews. Although once Rosalie Chai came along he devoted all his time to her. She was the apple of his eye. Michael was part of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) and the Gate City chapter for Medical Assistants. Michael married Brianna Rausch on June27, 2015. The have one daughter Rosalie Chai DesFosses. They were later divorced. Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandma, Oma. His paternal grandparents Paul A and Leoma DesFosses. His father Paul J DesFosses. His mother Annie Thurmond. His brother Philippe J DesFosses. He is survived by his daughter Rosalie Chai, his brother Paul (Monica) DesFosses, nephews Paul and Peter DesFosses, niece Emilie DesFosses, step dad Michael Thurmond and many close friends. Michael had a unique personality. He was always trying to figure out how he could make you laugh. He was an amazing father, brother, son and uncle. You may not always be able to get a hold of him, and more times than not he would not be on time, but when you did he would help in any way he could. We would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Portneuf Medical Center for the excellent care. The funeral will be held at 11:00am Saturday December 5th at Inkom Community Bible Church at 251 Grant Ave, Inkom, Idaho with Pastor Russ Blair.
