<p>Stephen &ldquo;Steve&rdquo; Perry Coltharp passed away November 28, 2020 at Windsor Place Nursing Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.</p> <p>Steve was born June 26, 1946 to Howard Leroy and Laura Luella (Ward) Coltharp. Steve grew up in Caney, Kansas where he graduated from Caney Valley High School in 1964. He served in the US Army directly out of high school. Steve served overseas in Germany and fought for his country in Vietnam. After his military service, he served many years in the National Guard. Steve married after returning from service and they had two children: a daughter Joleen and a son Robert. They were later divorced and In February of 1981 he married Terry Post from Cherryvale and his family grew to include two more children Misty and Jason.</p> <p>The greater part of his life he worked in law enforcement. He served communities including Bonny Lake, WA, Brownsville, TX, Bartlesville, OK, Cherryvale, KS, Independence, KS, and retired after serving Montgomery County, KS as Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.</p> <p>Steve enjoyed golfing, fishing, stamp collecting, and family gatherings. While he could be counted on for a unique sense of humor and sharing stories from his life, he always had kind words of encouragement for those around him. Steve is remembered by family as having a deeply spiritual belief in God and always offering up the prayer before family meals. He and his wife were long time members of Tyro Christian Church. It is comforting to know they are together with God.</p> <p>Steve is preceded in death by his wife Terry, his parents, and brothers Phillip, Mike, and Larry Coltharp. He is survived by his children: Joleen Ollerman of Montana, Misty Majka of Texas, Robert Coltharp of Montana, Jason Coltharp of Tyro, KS; sister Susan Thomison of Caney, KS; brother Lee Coltharp of Caney, KS. Joleen gave him one granddaughter &ndash; Tiffany with two great granddaughters &ndash; Amiya and McKenna and one great grandsons &ndash; Wyatt. Robert gave him one grandson Logan. Misty gave him two grandsons Christopher and Frankie.</p> <p>Viewing will be at Potts Funeral Chapel Independence, KS Friday, December 4th 5:00 PM &ndash; 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service for Steve and Terry will be held at 10:00 AM at Tyro Christian Church on Saturday December 5th with interment in Sunnyside Cemetery Caney, KS.
