Miriam (Mimi) Weakland

Miriam Weakland, of Susquehanna Township passed away at the age of 72, on Monday, November 30, 2020 at UPMC Pinnacle West Shore Hospital. She was born on January 10, 1948 in Pottsville, PA to the late Morris and Helen March. Mimi worked for 36 years in Human Resources for the Commonwealth of PA Department of Transportation. After retiring she worked part time as an annuitant for 6 more years. She was a volunteer at the East Shore Library and was membership chairperson for the Friends of the East Shore Area Library (FESAL). She also was a volunteer at the Whitaker Center for the Arts & Sciences. Mimi and her husband loved traveling, they vacationed in all 50 states, took many cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, gardening and her cat, Sparkle. Mimi is survived by her husband of 37 years, James Weakland, her brother, Todd March and his wife, Ellen, nephews, Darren March and his wife, Carolyn, their children, Owen, Ryan, David March and his wife, Lisa, their children, Kayla, Reagan and Derek. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 4, 2020 in the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Friday in the funeral home. In keeping with current health guidelines, attendees are encouraged to exercise proper precautions including the wearing of face coverings and appropriate social distancing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the East Shore Area Library,4501 Ethel Street, Harrisburg, PA 17109, Castaway Critters, Post Office Box 1421, Harrisburg, PA 17105 or the Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation, Post Office Box 311, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
