Myron Buccek Obituary

Myron Buccek, age 73 of Minneapolis, died Friday, November 27, 2020 at home with his family at his side after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Private funeral services will be held Saturday, December 5 at St. Constantine Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minneapolis. The service will be livestreamed on the church Facebook page and YouTube channel . A public memorial service and interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery will take place at a future date.

Myron was born March 30, 1947 to Josef and Anna Buczek. He immigrated with his family from Eastern Europe and settled in Minneapolis. He graduated from DeLaSalle High School with the class of 1965 and attended the University of Minnesota, studying accounting. Myron was a proud Ukrainian and a member of St. Constantine, serving the church in many ways.

On January 15, 1972, Myron married Linda McMahon in Thunder Bay, Ontario. They met in Thunder Bay at a Ukrainian dancing concert. Myron and Linda made their home in Northeast Minneapolis and welcomed a son, Jason.

Myron worked as an accountant for Cargill, Medtronic and other businesses in the metro area. He enjoyed fishing in Northern Minnesota and Canada, working out and playing racquetball. Myron and Linda loved to travel to Hawaii and go on cruises. He liked to work on home projects and play poker with his friends. Saturday night family dinners were special. Myron loved to read and get involved in stimulating conversations.

Myron is survived by his wife, Linda and son, Jason and daughter-in-law, Amy; brother, Leo; sister, Olga; extended family, Michael, Bob, Pat & Eva; nieces and nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Josef and Anna, parents-in-law Ed and Sally McMahon; sisters-in-law Vivian, Joanne and Dona.

The family would like to thank North Memorial Hospice Services and family and friends for their support. Memorials preferred to the memory of Myron to St. Constantine, 515 University Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413.
