Duane Williams
<p>Duane was born to Marion Lee Williams and Anna Morowitz Williams on November 29, 1932 in Anthony, Kansas and went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, November 29, 2020. </p> <p>He graduated from Beaver High School in 1950. On June 8, 1952 he married Norma Faye McNerlin in Balko, Oklahoma. Shortly after their marriage, Duane enlisted in the United States Army and served his Country in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1956. Duane had a profound love of our Country and his love deepened further when he and Faye visited Washington, DC and they had the opportunity to witness the Changing of the Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. </p> <p>Duane was employed with Northern Natural Gas in Kansas and in 1965 was transferred to Hobbs, NM where he continued his employment until his early retirement in 1991. </p> <p>The family became members of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church soon after arriving in Hobbs and faithfully attended and served. He sang in the choir for many years and served in any area he was needed. His favorite thing to help with was Trunk or Treat every October, he loved interacting with all the kids and their parents. </p> <p>Duane was an amazing woodworker and all-around handyman, there weren’t many things that he couldn’t build or repair. Upon retiring, he volunteered his time and talents with Habitat for Humanity for many years. </p> <p>Duane was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Lee Williams. </p> <p>He is survived by his wife, Faye, son Gary Williams & wife Sherry of Comanche, OK, daughter Karen Good & husband Kevin of Midland, TX and daughter Raema Williams of Cincinnati, OH. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Amy DeLong & husband Bryan of New Braunfels, TX, Alicia Kim Whatley & husband Jeff of Wichita Falls, TX, Jonathan Davis of Tucson, AZ, Krista Timmons of Wichita Falls, TX, Jessica Davis of Seattle, WA, Scott Bryant & wife Courtney of Conway, AR and Sarah Partain & husband Barry of Georgetown, TX along with 6 great-grandchildren. </p> <p>In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Gideons International (www.gideons.org) or the charity of your choice.</p> <p>The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the love and care Duane received from the many wonderful individuals at Landmark Desert Gardens over the last 2-1/2 years, it made all of us breathe easier knowing he was in such good hands. There aren’t enough words to express how much we appreciate each of you. Also, our deepest thanks to Nancy and Tami with Kindred Hospice Care for the love, care and support shown to Duane over the last few months.
