The Beginning Life began for Sondra Jeannetta Morton in Coatesville, PA on March 2, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Leroy and Nancy Morton of Coatesville. The Transition On Friday, November 27, 2020, God dispatched his angels to Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care of, Newark, DE, where she transitioned from this life to her rewarded home in Glory. Education Graduate of Scott Senior High School in 1962. Attended Immaculata University. Graduated Full Gospel Bible Institute in 1984. Employment Soni worked for Lukens Steel Company in Coatesville, PA, Star Social Club in West Chester, PA and Baxter’s Auto Tag as a secretary. She later retired as a forklift driver from Wyatt Pharmaceuticals in Malvern PA. Soni was also a notary. The “Person” In her early years, Soni loved to roller-skate with her crew, party with her friends and she loved to travel. Soni loved to go shopping and really sought out finding great bargains. In her later years, she became a catalog shopper. Soni loved to crochet blankets and baby booties for others in various sizes and beautiful colors. She started a Candy Store where there were no family discount. Soni also loved the 76’ers basketball team and she didn’t just stop at professional teams she loved to support the local high school basketball teams as well. Soni and her mother attended hundreds of games over the years. Family – Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother Aunt and Cousin, Soni was the oldest sister to four younger sisters: Barbara, Marcia, Debra and Earlene, mother of two; Michelle and Michael, grandmother to Jasmine, Mark, Michael Jr., Tyrone, Kyle, Brooklyn and Bri-Lynn and great-grandmother to Zaria and Talib and a host of nieces and nephews. She shared life’s lessons with her family so they could become strong members of society while keeping God first in their lives. Servant Soni was a faithful servant to Holy Tabernacle COGIC of Coatesville for many years. She served as a Sunday school teacher, Superintendent of Sunday School, Vacation Bible school teacher, leader of Young People Willing Workers (YPWW), Church Secretary and the kitchen committee. Soni was also an active participant in every service that Holy Tabernacle held always taking her children, grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. She loved studying and teaching the bible as well as playing her tambourine. In 2000 when Soni’s health began to deteriorate, she moved to Delaware to live with her daughter. She maintained her membership with Holy Tabernacle and would drive an hour to attend her church service until her health would no longer allow her to do so. While living in Delaware, she became a member of the Golden Agers of the Resurrection Center in Wilmington, DE. Soni looked forward to attending the numerous events and activities that the Agers would sponsor, which included bible study, arts and crafts, various seminars, exercise classes and day trips. In 2015, Soni transferred her membership to Pilgrim Baptist Church in Newark DE. Her Pilgrim Baptist family fondly called her Cadillac because she would proudly drive her motorized wheelchair up to her pew while asking everyone to quickly move out of her path. She was a member of the flower ministry and a member of the Super 60’s. Soni has been a faithful servant and is now seeing her rewards. Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. Her Legacy The precious memories she shared with her family will forever remain cherished by her children: Michelle Wesley (Eric) and Michael Thompson, Sr., grandchildren; Jasmine Johnson, Mark Wesley, Michael Thompson, Jr., Tyrone Thompson, Kyle Haldaway, Brooklyn Thompson, Bri-Lynn Ford and great-granddaughter Zaria White, great-grandson Talib Morton, sisters Marcia Morton and Debra Morton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends Memories continue to Live In addition to her parents Leroy and Nancy Morton, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Malik Thompson, and sisters; Barbara Morton Keasley and Earlene Morton, her nephew Morgan Keasley, Jr. and niece Brittney Turner-Keasley.
