The family of Malcolm Thomas McCutcheon sadly announces his passing on November 27, 2020 at Rhode Island Hospital at the age of 94 after a short battle with the Coronavirus.
Malcolm was born October 11, 1926 in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. He was the firstborn of the late Thomas and Bessie (Braydon) McCutcheon. Malcolm loved speaking of his early years growing up in Olinville, New Brunswick so much so that he wrote a book “Babies and Soldiers for the King” which is a memoir of his New Brunswick farm family. He was a proud 1947 graduate of Rothesay Collegiate School in Rothesay, New Brunswick. In his twenties, Malcolm married the late Alma Maureen (Power) McCutcheon and moved to the USA to pursue a career in insurance. He was a successful business man and was able to retire as Vice President of Allendale Insurance at the age of 55. In his later years he enjoyed following the stock market, and making trips to the Connecticut casinos with his friend Joan Ferguson. Malcolm’s family was always his pride and joy, they have many loving memories of him and he will be sadly missed.
Malcom is survived by his daughter Marilyn Sousa and her husband Joseph of Berkley; grandchildren; Joseph Sousa Jr of Berkley, Pamela Hone and her husband Scott of Sharpsburg, Georgia, Melissa Selig and her husband Kurt of Manomet, Massachusetts; his great-grandchildren Ethan, Cassidy, Sydney, Carter and Kaitlyn; his brother Earle McCutcheon of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and numerous nieces and nephews who all reside in Canada. Malcolm was predeceased by his brother Robert McCutcheon and sister Vera McCauley.
