Vallie Joseph Gibbar Obituary

Vallie Joseph Gibbar, age 104, of Festus, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 at Crystal Oaks Nursing Center in Festus. He was born December 13, 1915 in Perryville, Missouri, the son of the late Mary (nee Pannier) and Ruben Gibbar. He is preceded in death by his wife Eva “Jean” (nee Fitzgerald) Gibbar; a brother Francis Eugene Gibbar; sisters Marie (the late Joseph) Geringer, Ella Mae (the late Joseph) Chambers, Iva (the late Gilard) Ponder, Aileen (the late Bob) Garrison, and Dorothy (the late Fred) Byram. He is survived by a sister Ruby (the late Richard) Schweppe of Affton, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews, including two local nieces Judy (Ivan) Wallace of Imperial, Missouri, and Ginny (Harold) Hunt of Festus. Mr. Gibbar was a WW II Navy Veteran; member of American Legion Post #253; and a retired glassworker from the former Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company’s plant in Crystal City, Missouri. Visitation from 9:00 A.M. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 7, 2020 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus. Interment with full military honors in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials in his memory are preferred to the Crystal Oaks Foundation, or Mercy Jefferson Hospice.
