Perry Gerard Gillard

Perry Gerard Gillard September 12, 1968 – November 28, 2020 On November 28th, Perry Gillard passed peacefully away, as he had lived, with his wife Leona by his side. He was 52. Perry was predeceased by his grandparents, Arthur and Melita Gillard and Dominic and Annie Coady and by his uncles and aunts, Tom, Dominic Jr and Maureen Coady, Doris Elliot, Clayton Jenkins and Pansy Gillard as well as his great-aunt and godmother, Theresa Farrell (Bernard). With an abundance of love and memories as a source of comfort, he leaves to mourn his wife of 24 years, Leona (née Hayes) and his sons, Coady and Connor, who were his pride and joy. He was so proud of their many accomplishments and of the fine young men they have become. Sharing in their grief are Perry’s loving parents, Elmo and Mary Jo Gillard and his siblings, Elmo Jr, Gloria (Neil Smith), Cory and Arthur (Wanda Lee). His parents-in-law, Leo and Patricia Hayes, who loved him like their own, and his sisters-in-law, Robyn (Jeff Gushue) and Jackie. Perry also leaves, with many fun memories, his nieces and nephews, Tyler and Adam Gillard, Claire and Hillary Smith, Quinn and Gabrielle Gillard, Noah Murray and Hayden and Quinn Gushue as well as a large family, by birth and by marriage, of aunts, uncles and cousins, especially his cousins Chantelle Wong, Shawn and Chad Kennedy with whom he shared a special bond. Also missing her dad is his furry companion, Madi, who never left his side. Perry also impacted many lives and forged many friendships over the years. He is especially missed by his co-workers at the Eastern Residential Support Board where he worked for the past 25 years. He will be remembered as a fun-loving guy who loved to cook for his clients and co-workers. Soccer was also a huge part of Perry’s life and the members of CBN Soccer Club are also feeling the loss. He will be remembered as an avid coach, executive member, and die-hard player who dearly loved a kick. His kindness and sense of humour will forever remain in our hearts and live on in our loving memories of him. Our family’s heartfelt and sincere appreciation to Dr. Armstrong and her team at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre for their professionalism and care over the past 13 months, to Dr. Howse, his palliative care doctor and the nurses on the 6th floor at the Carbonear General Hospital who supported Perry and his family in his final days and to Dr. Jones, his family doctor, for his exceptional care and concern for all of us. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Perry G. Gillard Memorial Fund to support a scholarship that will be created in his name.
