Private services for Adeline Goehring, 97, Aberdeen, SD, are 2:00pm, Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, with Pastor Blair Kirkpatrick officiating. Services will be live-streamed. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Adeline died Friday, November 27, at Mother Joseph Manor, Aberdeen. Public visitation is 3:00-5:00, Tuesday, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home. Family prefers memorials to Plymouth Congregational UCC. Adeline Hoff was born on April 12, 1923, to Edward and Martha (Heupel) Hoff in Hosmer, SD. The family moved to Eureka, SD in 1924 where she attended school through the eleventh grade, then moved to Aberdeen in 1941. Adeline graduated from Western Union School in Sioux City, worked in Chicago, IL and later taught telegraphy for Western Union. After her return to Aberdeen following World War II, she was employed at Kessler’s. On July 4, 1948, Adeline married Junis Goehring. They made their home in Aberdeen and Mina Lake. Junis died in 1996. Adeline was generous with her time. She received a Life Membership Award from South Dakota Congress of Parents & Teachers for her work with PTA. She volunteered with Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Jaycees, Dakota Midland Auxiliary, the YWCA Board. In 1976, she was honored by the International Women’s Year Hall of Fame Award for her doer and volunteer work. She was a member of Zonta serving on the board for four years and president from 1979-1980 and receiving her silver plate award in 1981. In 1988, she was selected as Aberdeen’s First Lady. Adeline as a member of Plymouth United Church of Christ served on most of the committees, including being president for two years and circle chairman for 25 years. She was often called “The Church Lady” because of her cooking, baking, and bazaar activities. From 1975-1990 she was secretary in the family insurance business until retirement when she kept busy managing their rental properties. Adeline enjoyed baking, traveling, working in her flower garden, visiting the casino, and spending time relaxing on her deck at Mina Lake. She liked watching westerns on TV and listening to Gaither Christian Music. She was a generous, elegant , and loving lady who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grateful for sharing Adeline’s life are her children: Ron (Dorothy) Goehring, Tamera (Bruce) Frandsen Tonya (William) Felix, and Patrice (Cecil) Hudson; grandchildren: Sonya (Jeff) Wagner Beau (Jenny) Goehring, Tyler (Christine) Goehring, Kasey (Nick) Schultz, , Daniel (Brenna) Frandsen, Rebecca Frandsen and Lane Felix; great-grandchildren: Ava, Cash, Noah, Charlotte, Owen, and Brantley; step-grandchildren: Matthew Hudson and Rachael McManus; and step-great-grandchildren: Dylan and Ollivia.
