Maude L. Johnson Obituary

Mickey (Maude) Johnson, of Milford, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, 2020.  Born on August 10, 1936 in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Robert Goulding Whitney and Jesse Louise Hull.

Mickey is survived by her sons, Daniel Whitney and Kenneth Johnson; daughter, Tracy Toros; nieces, Linda, Patty, Jeanette, Mary, Wendy, and Kimberly; nephew, Fred; and grandchildren, Dale, Sarah, Abby, Jasmine, and Bella.

Mickey was predeceased by her sisters, Elaine and June; brother, Bobby; and son, Jay.

Mickey was a key member of the Whitney, Kolesar, Johnson dynasties. She reigned supreme as Grammy-Beach in the later years of her life.

Never a drinker, gambler, smoker, but once. With a heart so full of life and love, such things would only serve as depressants. Her home was your home. Your pain was her pain. And if she knew you, you knew that.

Mickey had three boys, and a daughter of her own but in her life, so many more would come. She would give the shirt off of her back and often volunteer her children to do the same if hers was not enough. And if you were one of those children, hers or not, you knew that.

For Mickey, sacrifice was a call-to-arms for those in need. Support came just as easy. But stubbornness was her badge of honor. If she wanted something for herself, her kids or you, she wouldn't stop until she got it. And if you knew her, you knew that.

Through her actions we learned that hard work, good deeds, as well as manners, were equally important. She worked three jobs at a time for several years and managed to keep her children in the country and always close to the other clans. Of those clans, from her sister and brother, and others collected along the way, stemmed some very wonderful people. And if you know them, you know that.

As long as she was needed, she was there. As long as there was laughter, she was heard. As long as there was family, she was loved.

May all who knew her, raise a glass. For she was the one, the only, the last.

She is now with her sisters, June and Elaine and brother, Bobby. And if you know anything about them, you know damn well, Heaven knows that.

Services will be private. The family is being compassionately cared for by the staff at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460.
