Fred Fulcher Obituary

Fred Fulcher Jr., 66, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday November 25, 2020, at his home in Waterbury, CT. He was born October 15, 1954 in Oriental, NC to the late Fred Fulcher Sr. ,Geraldine Armstead and raised by Almena Fulcher (Step Mother). He attended Lee High School in New Haven, CT. and later enlisted in the United States Air Force and worked as a Vehicle Operator stationed in Peterson Field, CO. Fred received a national defense service medal. Fred later met his wife Anna, and married her on July 2, 1998. Fred could accomplish anything he set his mind on. He attended Lee High School in New Haven, CT. and later enlisted in the United States Air Force and worked as a Vehicle Operator stationed in Peterson Field, CO. where he received a national defense service medal of honor. Fred later went to further his education at the Housatonic Community College where he made the Dean's list for distinguished academic achievement. He then attended Springfield College where he received Bachelors of Science and later to pursue his Masters at Fordham University. He obtained his goal and received a degree in Masters of Social Work in 2004. He worked many years as a drug and alcohol counselor for the Morris Foundation and later worked with counseling families. He retired in 2013. Fred was a member of the NAACP as a legal redress chairman and later the Arm Forces of Veteran Affairs Chairman. Fred became a member of Grace Baptist in 2015. He loved going to church and really enjoyed bible study. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; chatting with family and friends0, watching a good movie, snacking and spending time with family, and his daughter whom he loved dearly. Fred will be missed by his family, friends and all that knew him. He is survived by his Stepmother; Almena Fulcher; daughter; Jade S. Hughes; sisters; Brenda Fulcher and Khaliah Abdus-Sabur (Lachen)New Haven CT; niece; Monica Lawrence ( Marlin) New Haven CT; nephews; Shafiq Abdus-Sabur (Mucaraka), New Haven CT, Andre Johnson (Vicki), New Haven CT, Harry Banks ( Corina), Stratford, CT ; great- nieces; Caryn Lawrence, New Haven CT, Salma Abdus-Sabur, New Haven CT; great nephews; Sabir Abdus-Sabur, Hamden CT, Ismail Abdus-Sabur ( Ayanna), New Haven CT, Ishan Abdus Sabur, New Haven CT, Sha’hiid Abdus-Sabur New Haven CT; Great-Great Niece; Aminah Abdus Sabur, New Haven, CT; Uncle; Clifton Fulcher (Audrey) and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Fred is Predeceased by his wife, Anna M. Fulcher, his father Fred Fulcher Sr., and his brother Bernard Fulcher.
