Genaro S. Munoz, 86, of Silver City, New Mexico passed away peacefully too be with the Lord on November 26, 2020.

Visitation for Genaro will be from 10 to 11 am on Friday, December 4, 2020 at St. Francis Newman Center Parish.  The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place at 11 am led by Deacon Bill Holguin.  The Funeral Liturgy will follow immediately thereafter at 11:30.  Officiating will be Father Bartholomew Ezenwelem.  Concluding service and burial will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery.  Serving as casket bearers will be Arturo Peru, Gilbert Munoz, Miguel Aguirre, Ben Abeyta, Tommy Munoz and Oscar Munoz.  Honorary pallbearers will be his grandson Zachary Munoz, Ruben Granillo, his godsons, and his other grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.  Due to covid-19 restrictions, only 25% of the capacity of the building will be allowed, you must wear a mask and social distancing will apply.

He was born on May 8, 1934 in Silver City, to Juan V. Munoz and Luz L. Sierra Munoz. In his younger years Genaro served three years with the Army. On May 23, 1959, he married his wife Irene. Together they raised three daughters Rachel, Sylvia and Roxann.  During his active years Genaro loved to go camping, fishing and hunting. He loved to do anything that included all his family. Some of his favorite pastimes included sitting outside while drinking coffee and smoking, watching old John Wayne westerns, and watching the Price Is Right.

Genaro is survived by his wife Irene, of 61 years; his daughter Rachel (companion Miguel Aguirre); daughter Roxann (children Zachary and Nailea); an estranged daughter Sylvia Ortega (Steve Ortega). Also surviving him are his brother Angel Munoz; his brother Manuel Munoz (Susie) and his sister Maria Sias; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and his godsons Johnny Ray Munoz and Steven Morales. He was preceded in death by his parents Juan and Luz Munoz; his sister Clorinda Padilla; his brothers Lorenzo Munoz and Edwardo Munoz.
