Margaret Goddard Fuller Obituary

Margaret Goddard Fuller of Oak Ridge passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 at Commonwealth Senior Living, surrounded by her family. Born on September 21, 1927, in Winchester, TN, Mrs. Fuller was the daughter of the late Maggie and Edward L. Goddard. The family moved to Knoxville in 1943 where she graduated from Knoxville High School in 1945. She attended the University of Tennessee from 1945-1948 and then went to work at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a receptionist in the Employment Office until 1951. Mrs. Fuller married Walter L. Fuller, Jr. in 1948 and was married for 42 years until his death in 1990. Mr. Fuller, an attorney, began his Oak Ridge practice in 1959 and Mrs. Fuller periodically assisted him in his law office. Two sisters, Betty Goddard Delzell and Sarah Edline Goddard Campbell also preceded her. She is survived by her sister Nora Campbell of Louisville, KY, and brother Lee Goddard and wife Gwen of Cleveland, TN. Mrs. Fuller is survived by her four children, Walter L. Fuller, III, and wife Zoe of Hillsborough, NJ, Michael L. Fuller and wife Lynn of Harrisburg, PA, Margo Fuller Witcher and husband Eric of Viera, FL, and Mark E. Fuller of Harrisburg, PA; by six grandchildren Michael Fuller, Bryan Fuller, Erin Fuller Womble, Sydney Fuller, Erika Witcher Simpson and Eisen Witcher; and nine great grandchildren Nicholas, Kaylee, Emma, Kiley and Kira Fuller, Ryder Caniff, Emma and Ava Simpson, Izaak Witcher and Sebastian Womble. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Before starting his Oak Ridge law practice, Mrs. Fuller accompanied her husband during his military service to Ft Jackson, S.C., and Ft Benning, Georgia. Prior to moving to Oak Ridge the family also lived in Atlanta, GA; Jackson, Mississippi; and Chattanooga, TN. The family lived on Balboa Circle in Emory Valley subdivision for 26 years. Mrs. Fuller later moved to Capitol Circle in Briarcliff subdivision prior to her most recent residence at Commonwealth Senior Living. Mrs. Fuller was an active community volunteer in various children’s PTA organizations at Glenwood and Woodland Elementary and serving with her husband as president in the Highland View PTA. She was a Methodist Medical Center volunteer for over 20 years and a volunteer at First United Methodist Church since 1959. She was a member of the Oak Ridge Bar Auxiliary, Oak Ridge Women’s Club, Red Hat Club, and Lioness Club. She enjoyed annual family reunions and for many years she hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas family events at the Balboa Circle home with her extended family. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Due to COVID19 limitations and restrictions, a private graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for the family.
