Sally Riskin Obituary

Sally Annette Sickle Riskin, 90, real estate businesswoman, died Friday, November 27, 2020 in West Palm Beach, Florida.  Sally was the daughter of Sol and Lillian Sickle. Her father immigrated from Russia to Washington, DC with his mother Annie Sickle and siblings in 1909.  A life long Washingtonian, Sally attended Eastern High School, Business School and worked for the DC government.   At the age of 16, she met her husband, Aaron “Ike” Riskin, at the local Hot Shoppes.  They were married 30 years and lived in Bethesda until his death in 1981.

Sally was a multi-faceted, talented woman.  After the death of her husband, she successfully managed the family real estate business.  Sally was known for her philanthropy, culinary skills, extravagant dinner parties, flair for fashion, thrill of adventure and her love of dancing.  One of her greatest accomplishments was dancing with the last generation of Ziegfeld Follies.  Additionally, Sally loved animals and most of the animals she owned, she rescued herself. She was a force of nature; a true mover and shaker!

She meant a lot to many people.  She was a wife, a mother, an aunt and a grandmother, hence earning the nick names, Aunt Sally, Aunt Granny and Bube Sally.
She is survived by her daughters April Rochelle Riskin and Sue Riskin Schuman (Eugene), grandchildren Leah and Ben Schuman; her nieces Caryn Fleishman and Hope Fleishman Kramer, grandniece Brooke Kramer and grandnephews Seth and Jacob Kramer.   Her mother, Lillian Sickle, and sister, Betty Sickle Fleishman preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Morselife Foundation: 4847 David S. Mack Drive, West Palm Beach, FL 33417 (morselifefoundation.org)
