<p>Effingham, SC - Curtis Tanner, 79, passed away on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020 in a local hospital.</p> <p>Funeral services will be Wed. Dec. 2, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Effingham Church of God.&nbsp; The family will have a time of visitation before the service at the church beginning &nbsp;at 2:00 p.m.</p> <p>Mr. Tanner was born in Georgetown County, the son of the late Kirby Jackson and Mary E. Stone Tanner.&nbsp; Before moving into the Florence area he lived many years in Beaufort. Where &nbsp;he was a member of the Beaufort Church of God, and served on the Pastors Council.&nbsp; He was an Assistant Water Works Director in Beaufort.&nbsp; He also worked with&nbsp; the Civil Service Division at the Marine Corps Air Station and Parris Island.&nbsp; Curtis enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.</p> <p>He was first married to the late Lizzie Jane Coker Tanner.</p> <p>Surviving are his wife, Bobbie Chancy Tanner; sons, Jackson (Gritiya) Tanner, Gene Tanner, Curtis McClo (Conchetta) Tanner; daughter, Jane Lynette Smith; step-children, Karen, Brenda, Carol and Jimmy;&nbsp; brother, Harris Tanner; six sisters, Lei Langley, Frankie Foxworth, Vi Peace, Gaby Wadford, Audrey T. Cales, Connie McMakin; grandchildren, Justin Smith, Autumn Smith, James Bazzle, Corey Tanner, Chelsea (Zachary)Verges, DanaJane MingKhwanTanner, Nicholas, Kira, Ryleigh , Zachary&nbsp; Flynn-Tanner and 4 great grandchildren.&nbsp; Curtis is preceded in death by a sister, Louise Thomas.&nbsp;</p> <p>You are invited to sign the guestbook at www.laytonandersonfh.com</p> <p>Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, 4210 W.
