William P. Szabo Obituary

Szabo, William P. “Diane’s Billy” Mio, Michigan Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, William P. Szabo, went to be home to God in the afternoon hours of Friday, November 27, 2020 at the McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City, Michigan of Covid-19. Age 65 years. He fought hard! Billy was born on March 4, 1955 in Grand Rapids, Michigan; the youngest of five to the late John G. and Marge A. (Marcellus) Szabo. Billy went to Northview and Grandville Schools, where he was a friend to all. On October 22, 1977 he married the absolute love of his life, Diane K. Szabo, and she survives him. Billy has lived in Mio, Michigan for the past 29 years. He has worked many jobs; as a farmer, truck driver, and tree trimmer. For the past 6 years, Billy has worked as a production worker at Cooper Standard Automotive in Mio; he really enjoyed his work family. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical workers (IBEW) and the Carpenters Union. The most important thing in Billy’s life was his family; they meant the world to him. Billy also enjoyed listening to music; especially the Wheatland Folk Fest, Q100.3, and Larry McCray. He love drinking an ice cold Miller High Life, it truly was the “Champagne of Beer”, Bill would say. He loved the outdoors, camping, cooking BBQ, and smoking. He truly enjoyed life, family, and friends. Everywhere he went he always had a good time. He was a very smart man, he gave the best advice, and had a great sense of humor. He would never crack a smile, so you could never tell if he was joking or not. “A big man with a big heart”! Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 43 years, Diane K. Szabo; four children, Marry Szabo of Grand Haven, MI, Robert Szabo of Mio, MI, Penelope Snydeman of Virginia Beach, VA, and William Michael Chris-tfer Szabo of Mio, MI; granddaughters, Lily Snydeman and Piper Schumann; siblings, Robert (Sharon) Szabo of Manistee, MI, Steve (Patty) Szabo of White Hall, MI, and Melissa Szabo-Start of Grand Rapids, MI; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; lots of cousins, all equally loved by him, he so enjoyed them all. Billy is happily reunited with his daughter, Angela Szabo; parents, John G. and Marge A. (Marcellus) Szabo; brother and sister-in-law, Mike (Charmain) Szabo; nephews, Johnny Szabo, Michael Szabo; Father-in-law, Richard Purchase; and brother-in-law, Wayne Purchase. At the request of Billy and his family, cremation has taken place and there will be no services held at this time. Billy’s family will have a Big Szabo Celebration at a later date, exactly what Billy would want. “Please stay home, stay healthy, and stay safe”. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to the “Wishes of the Family” in care of, Diane K. Szabo. For online condolences please visit, www.SquiresFuneralHome.com
