JOHN BORYK JR., passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020, at age 94. He was born on June 8, 1926 in Yonkers NY to John Boryk Sr. and Tatiana (Nee Dalyniak). His father, John Sr. was born in the village of Swirowa Russka, Sevackova (church parish), Biecz in diocese of Premesyl, district of Yaslo region, Galicia, Austria Imperial Empire on 2/12/1883 and passed on 9/15/1965. His mother, Tatiana, was born in the village of Kotani, Krempna (Church parish), Dukla in diocese of Premesyl, district of Yaslo, region of Galicia, Austria Imperial Empire on 1/29/1894 and passed on 1/30/ 1988. John, known as “Curly” in high school, was a 1944 graduate of Yonkers High School. In 1946, he married his high school sweetheart, Lucy Forastiere, who predeceased him in 1999. Between 1946 and 1950, he played Professional Baseball in the Minor Leagues for the Boston Red Sox and N.Y. Yankees. From 1950 to 1955 he worked for the Alexander Smith Carpet Company. From 1955 to his retirement in 1988, he worked for the C.S. Brainin Company in Mt. Vernon NY. Also, from 1957 to 1974, he was head maitre d' at Yonkers Raceway. He then worked at Chase Manhattan Bank as a security guard for 5 years, until moving to Sarasota FL in 1993. He was a member of I.A.A.B.O. refereeing high school basketball in Westchester County for 26 years. For 2 years, he was the Babe Ruth Baseball Coach at the Colt’s Boys Club and for one year at the Park Hill Boys Club. John was predeceased by his wife, Tatiana, daughter, Diana in 2012, 4 sisters, Julia Rooney, Anna Korba, Olga (Ollie)Seymour and Rose Boryk, and 3 brothers, William (Bill), Theodore(Ted) and Richard (Dick). He is survived by his son, Robert, daughter, Janine, 3 grandchildren, Christine Boryk, John V. Boryk, and Elizabeth Altobelli, daughter-in-law, Melissa Samuel Boryk, and two great-granddaughters, Georgiana and Eliza Boryk. “Love you and Thank-you so much for everything. You did it your way. You were the best Dad, Pop and Dede.” ALL SERVICES ARE PRIVATE FOR JOHN BORYK, AT THE REQUEST OF FAMILY.
