Betty Louise Corners
<p><strong>Betty Louise Corners, age 96, passed away at 1:45 P.M. on November 22<sup>nd</sup>, 2020, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born on July 22<sup>nd</sup>, 1924, in Jefferson County, Illinois, the daughter of Russell and Marceline (Beguelin) Corners. </strong></p> <p><strong>Ms. Corners is survived by her nephew, John Corners and wife Katie of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, niece, Julie Evertz of Centralia, Illinois; five great-nephews and one great niece. </strong></p> <p><strong>Ms. Corners was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James H. Corners. </strong></p> <p><strong>Ms. Corners attended Centralia High School and Southern Illinois University and obtained two master’s degrees in Education. She taught at Eugene Field School in Centralia for 8 years before moving to Broward County, Florida, where she was a teacher and administrator until retirement. She was an educator for 36 years. </strong></p> <p><strong>Graveside Services for Ms. Betty Louise Corners will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 4, 2020, at Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois with Reverend Sidney Davis, Jr. officiating. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Friday. The family asks those who are attending to please be mindful of social distancing, wear a mask, and take any health precautions necessary to ensure a healthy environment. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois. Arrangements are in the care of Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.
