Corinne E. E. Waring Gloucester, Massachusetts Obituary

Corinne E. E. Waring

Corinne E. E. Waring, 92, of Rockport passed on November 25, 2020 at Addison Gilbert Hospital with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Lloyd B. Waring. She was born in Gloucester to Ruth (Woodbury) and Ralph H. McLellan on December 14, 1927. She grew up in Lanesville with her brother Bryce and sister Ruth. She graduated from Gloucester High School and moved to Rockport and began working for the Ketchopulos family. She later went on to be a real estate broker, a caterer, and an innkeeper at the family bed and breakfast called The Big Elm on South Street. During this time, she attended Nursing School at North Shore Community College, no easy task considering all the work associated with running an Inn! She had a great love of gardening and was a member of the Rockport Gardening Club, playing Bridge with her two groups of friends, taking art lessons well into her eighties, and entertaining. She really loved baking and giving her Nisu and Anadama bread to her friends and to the Rockport Congregational Church for the fundraisers! Corinne was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain and had wonderful parties at her homes. Corinne loved the arts and was a contributor to the Rockport Music, North Shore Symphony and numerous other charities. Corinne is survived by her daughter Joanne Wood, her son James Wood, her three grandchildren Kristin and husband Kyle, James, and Colleen; her two beautiful great grandchildren Kayla and Jack, all of whom she cherished. Also survived by nieces, Sharon and her husband Warren Hayward; Jane and husband Scott Johnson; and Judy and husband Niall Connors. Great nieces Hannah, Stephanie, and great nephew Adam. Family would like to express their deep appreciation of Reverend Derek van Gulden, her caregivers Diane, Laurie, Moira, Janet and Maryanne for the kind and wonderful care given to her while she was at home and Care Dimensions. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 11AM at the Locust Grove Cemetery in Lanesville. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing. Arrangement by the Campbell Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Corinne’s name to First Congregational Church of Rockport.
