Annette Lewin Obituary

Annette Lewin (nee Sauve) leaves a legacy of love and trust in the Lord for all who knew and loved her. Her welcoming and generous spirit was quickly known by all who met her. Family and community, faith in God and service to others, and a sense of fun formed the basis of her life, and all were rooted in love. Annette’s early years began in Port McNicoll, the youngest of eleven children in the huge extended Sauve family. It was here that Annette first learned and reflected her understanding of that love. Annette was a daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, great and even great-great aunt to many, many Sauves, and she made it her mission to know, remember and love them all. Annette’s life was changed forever when she met Joe, the love of her life and life-long partner throughout their 64 years of marriage. Annette and Joe put down roots in Milton and raised a family of five here. Annette was a loving, nurturing mother to Jo-Anne (Peter), Cindy (Jim), Cathy (Guy), Connie and Chris (April) (Teresa, ex). She loved being Mere Mere to Patrick (Rebecca), Geoffrey, William, Cameron (Kaitlyn), Leanne, Taylor, Emily and Andrew. Her great-grandchildren: Lillian, Emily and Oliver brought her such joy and laughter. Annette’s faith in God and sense of family was seen in her participation in parish life at Holy Rosary Church. From attending Mass regularly, to teaching Holy Rosary Elementary School students, to helping organize May crownings, to attending faith formation classes, to volunteering her help at baptisms and funerals - and much more - Annette’s love of God and service to others touched so many lives in the family of Holy Rosary parish. Annette enjoyed a long career in teaching and passing on the faith to hundreds of students. She had so many great friends among her families at Holy Rosary and Our Lady of Victory elementary schools. She had fun both inside and outside the classroom and loved to share stories of past teaching experiences, especially those that would produce a great deal of laughter. Retirement saw Annette and Joe wintering down in Florida. Annette once again became part of the community, participating in events there, joining a faith group and playing tennis on a team of fellow lady retirees. She loved life there and enjoyed having family come to stay. Annette and Joe would also plan trips and travel abroad during their retirement. Upon their return, Annette especially, would love to recount the many adventures they had on those trips. When not traveling, Annette would enjoy meeting her Coffee Culture friends for coffee, a visit, a game of Scrabble, or a planned outing. It was rare to see Annette idle for very long. When it became time to down-size from the large family home on Victoria Street, Annette and Joe chose Birkdale Place to be their new home. Annette adapted to this big change with grace and aplomb. In very short order, Annette was part of the Birkdale family and knew the names of every resident and staff member there. She loved to participate in activities, special events and organized outings at her new home, and she appreciated all the smiles, hugs, kindness and help she received there. We, as family to Annette Lewin, have been truly blessed to have had her in our lives for all these many years. Her legacy of love and trust in the Lord lives on in all of us. We share her gratitude for all the friends and care-givers who supported her. Annette (Sauve) Lewin - a life well lived. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday December 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from Holy Rosary Church, 139 Martin St., Milton, Ontario. If desired, memorial donations to the Milton District Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
